It's no surprise that people have been buzzing about Ally Condie's MATCHED. When Lisa and I first read this Publisher's Weekly article, we began buzzing too--mainly about how we were going to get our hot little hands on an ARC. Thanks to the Bookinistas, our dream became a reality. And this book? TOTALLY buzz-worthy. Check it out...
About the book:
In the Society, Officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.
Cassia has always trusted their choices. It’s barely any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one . . . until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path no one else has ever dared follow—between perfection and passion.
LiLA's* Take:
We get it. The buzz makes perfect sense. This book rocks. The society is pitch-perfect, the idea of a perfect match fascinating (especially since every other commercial these days promises just that through a "scientific approach to matching highly compatible singles" (Thank you eHarmony). And yet no matter how controlled Cassia's world is (and just wait till you read the details about her world. The clothing, the food, the jobs...controlled, controlled, controlled), there's still a glitch. And not just any glitch, a glitch that impacts her entire future. But our absolute favorite part of this book are the "what ifs" you're left with. It's the kind of book you finish reading and immediately call a friend who has also read to say, WHAT IF...a million times over. It's the kind of book that makes you wonder. And aren't those the best kind?
So, we highly recommend. Two thumbs up. Preorder right now. We can wonder together...

CAN NOT WAIT for this book!
7 figures? Heated auction? Fascinating and, apparently, well-executed idea? And a beautiful cover, because why the heck not?
I am in serious green-with-envy admiration.
Aw! Ally is awesome. I'm so excited for her! =D
Oooh, yes. I love the "what if"'s. I just got this book, and while I've only read a few pages, I can feel the beauty of it.
Ahhh, I can't wait to read my copy of this, however won't be able to get to it until closer to the release date. I'm glad ya'll enjoyed it so much! :-)
Such a good book! Definitely full of what ifs which are so sweet to mull over.

I've already pre-ordered it, but it won't be coming until the final Vampire Academy book is released mid-December, and I'm so reading that one first. :D
This is one of the (many) books I'm itching to get my hands on. Can't wait until it's out!
Oh, how I want to read this one!! I want it now! :-)
I want, I want!
I really enjoyed the world-building in Matched. And I still sigh every time I see the cover. It's just so pretty...
Excellant review, Queen Laura.
I plan to read this book as soon as it hits the shelf. If only for that cover alone.
This book is so awesome! I can't wait to actually own a copy. I was honored to receive an ARC copy of it way back when... and oh.my.did.i.fall.in.love.with.Matched.
Falling over in love, depressed when it was over, sad about the ending, only because book 2 was still so far out of reach.
Can't wait to read this. Thanks for the great review.
I can't wait to read this one!! Great review ;o)
Have a great Friday, both of you!
My local indie gave me this ARC a couple months ago and I LOVED this book. It's so subtly written and the tension just builds throughout. I couldn't put it down once I started.
