2. I'm spring cleaning right now and it feels really good. Really good. Is there something wrong with me?
3. I might have squealed out loud (in case you're wondering, I sounded like a jealous pig) when I read this fantastic news about Beth Revis. I mean HOLY. CRAP. How good does that book sound?
4. We haven't had nearly enough time to read blogs--see number 1 and 2.
5. The show How to Make it in America sort of makes me want to leave my family and move to New York City to do something crazy like try to be a professional writer. Oh wait....
6. The last time we went to New York, we dressed in business casual (or as Lisa likes to call it "business chic") to meet our agent (Lisa was all, "Trust me, I worked at a company. You were just a teacher). Clipping around NYC in heels was a big mistake. Big. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'm packing flats this time. [Editorial note from Lisa: Who says bet your bottom dollar? People who don't get "business chic," that's who. Can you tell who did the final edit on this blog post?]
7. I'm really nervous for the big Sourcebooks Fire Launch Party on Thursday. I mean, what if no one talks to us? What if we hide in the bathroom the entire time? What if I talk too fast and too loud? Yeah, that last one is pretty much a guarantee. I've never encountered an awkward silence that I don't rush to fill. It's a little like my mouth gets the runs. And let me tell you, Laura just loves it when that happens.
8. I gave up candy for Lent and have been housing cartons of ice cream and cookies. Yep.
9. I just finished a book that is a New York Times Bestseller, a book EVERYONE raves about, a book that sold for huge amounts of money, and I hated it. Really hated it. So apparently, I have terrible taste in books. Super.
10. I'm listening to A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY because I just know Libba (we're on a first name basis) will want to talk to me about it at the launch party. As my daughter plays outside, I blast it from my car. I'm that neighbor.
Ok, you're up. What's your truth this Tuesday?

Okay so I totally squealed when I heard about Beth as well!!! What fantastic news!!!
Nothing wrong with feeling fantastic while spring cleaning, I feel great when I'm cleaning, blaring music and making my pad smelling pretty, makes me write that much better!!!
Hmm truth today... I'd love silence this morning but my co-worker seems foreign to the concept, just like every other day. Ugh, oh boy... Happy Tuesday!
You can't give up just candy for Lent. It leads to massice overeating of all other desserts. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and give up all sweets. It's hard, but totally worth it!
Have fun in NYC!!!
ME TOO to #9! I wonder if it's the same book.
Truth: Beth is a rockstar. I got to hear Ben Scharnk talk PASSIONATELY about her story at the SCBWI conference. So cool to see and hear someone believe so strongly in an author like her. :)
It's Lent? (Don't tell my mother I didn't know...) Too bad I didn't remember Lent had started, 'cause then I would have given up chocolate, and I wouldn't have eaten three quarters of a box of chocolate wafer cookies yesterday.
Actually, I've been depressed (waaa...) I probably would have eaten the cookies, and God probably would have understood. (Not my mother, though...)
Truth: Im meeting these uber cool sisters on Thursday night and hanging out with Libba Bray.
It's not that you have a terrible taste in books, it's that the rest of us just have lower standards. ;)
Hey, if I were going to NYC, I would be doing the same thing.
No, there's nothing wrong with you! So says me who LOVES spring cleaning, de-junking and organizing... *blush*
Yea to Beth! That is awesome!
yeah guys...right there with ya on 2 and 3!!! Have fun in NYC and you will be GREAT!
Have a great time in New York! I wish I could go. My truth trying to clean this house out to get some clarity.
Have fun!!!
Good luck with the clothes! I'd go with the flats! Nothing worse than sore feet :) You're going to have so much fun!!
Have fun in NYC! How exciting! I'm sure you will be the fun of the party!
Ok so I am halfway done this book (won't say the name, only it is nothing recent)and I still have no clue what the h e double hockey sticks it is about. Seriously, who can write about nothing???
Truth-I am jealous about your launch party...How fun is that going to be? I want you two girls to pack your go-go boots and tambourines so that when Tiger Beat starts its set, you two can jump on a table and shake it!
(That, my friends, is the definition of business casual...)
Have a blast!

Years and years ago I had a job interview at a NY publishing house and of course wore heels to my interview. On my way there I had to stop at a Duane Reed and buy a package of band-aids because my heels were literally gushing blood, not pretty. I'm still going to try and make it Thursday night, and I will be the one in the purple Doc Martens, far more practical for trekking around the city.
Beth's news practically knocked me off my chair. I mean, MAJOR deal and comparison to Hunger Games. Holy Toledo! That's in your part of the world, right? :D
I so wish I could go to NYC with you--what a party! Have fun and enjoy this great moment. You earned it, you know.
Truth: I clean my house if people are coming over, and I always feel good when it's done.
How To Make It In America is my current dream life/job/fantasy/BF (Oh, Bryan Greenberg). Love!
I sooooooo wanted to go to the Sourcebooks launch party but stupid work got in the way.
Stupid work.
My truth, the last two YA books I read sucked. And they were wildly popular and probably sold a gazillion copies...and I thought they were awful.
Oh, trust me, it doesn't matter what kind of shoes you were in NYC.... your feet will always be in pain by the end of the day!
I say, do like my mother when she was a penniless artist - don't wear shoes. It's a great ice-breaker, too. ;D (although, I suggest you get your tetanus shots first. hehe.)
I have a confession to make on Truth Tuesday.
Writing is hard. DX I mean, I've only ever written scraps and poems, and tiny shorts that are just too abstract for publication! Now my stuff has to make sense. 8/ I just hope I won't be thinking about it too hard when I go see Alice today.
Anyway.
Spring cleaning should make everyone happy. I mean, when you're done, you'll be able to breathe again!

I'm pretty sure that this year I gav up giving something up for Lent. When I was pregnant with my second child, I gave up donuts. Big mistake. I haven't given up anything since.
I'm very curious about this book you read and hated. I often feel this way, and it makes me wonder about my own tastes. I'm going to pretend that everyone else has the bad taste and I'm the superior one. Just like everybody else is the bad driver.
And yeah, huge congrats to Beth!! Big news!!
I'm thinking you need to post pictures of the different outfits and let US, your readers, decide what you should wear!!! Who's with me on THAT?????
As much as I love my teaching job, I am BEYOND ready for summer vacation! :-)
I'm thrilled for Beth, too.
im so bad at this.
the only thing i have to say after reading your posts is
1. you're both hilarious and adorable
2. i love you
i think i have a problem.
Where to start?
I hate daylight savings.
I don't know who Beth Revis is. I've been exiled on another planet for the last month.
I know a guy who gossips. Like gossips with the intent to F*#@ over other people who he percieves as a threat to his worthless position. Like spreading rumors about my married boss (twenty-odd year old chick who manages a six hundred acre estate. Girl in power).
I'd really like to see someone fold him like a fortune cookie and stuff him in a public trash can where people can laugh as they walk by... and maybe talk about it later...
I don't even care how mean I sound right now because people I care about are in danger of being slandered by a cowardly liar.
Flats are a must! I had the worst blisters last time I went to the Big Apple. (It was still fun and awesome, but I limped like Quasimodo.) My truth: I'm a nutrition hypocrite. I made my kids eat oatmeal this morning, telling them how nutritious it is, and once they left for school, I had a piece of turtle pie. I am a bad woman.
NYC..I heart NYC. And get yourself some Croc heels...perfect for adding height and can be worn all over NYC for 10 hours straight. They Cyprus are the only crocs I like and they rock.
I LOVE daylight savings..why are so many people hating on it today? LOL.
You know why you guys are SO lucky... because if no one tals to you, at least you wills till have EACH OTHER.
Can you imagine being the lone author? YIKES!
7. Soooo wish I could be going! Everyone will love you!
8. For Lent I gave up meat 3 days/week. Today's a meat day. I'm having it twice.
10. Last night, at a gas station, I blasted the Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side audiobook as I filled my tank because I'm SO CLOSE to the end and didn't want to waste 5 minutes of listening time. I was that person.
Oh come on, am I really going to be the first person to ask what the book was? You can whisper it in my ear, I won't tell...
I am having an incredibly difficult time to find any desire to write. And though I'm concerned, the laziness seems to be stronger :(
Oh and that book summary of Beth's--it sounds so close to a book I read waaayyy back in elementary school about a boy who was frozen and woke up too early on a spaceship too. Then all of his family woke up and he was an old man, easily passing his parents in age. I wish I could remember the name of it...
Super exciting for Beth! Yahoo!
I don't know if I could give up candy. Especially right before Easter- Cadbury mini-eggs are to die for!
My friend finished REBEL ANGELS and returned it to me. I really do want to read it, but the size is daunting. I've been watching Law & Order instead of reading OR writing.
YAY for NYC though! Pack both if you must, but definitely pack flats!
Hey, you can always come spring clean my house. I won't complain. Seriously.
Have fun in NYC. You're soooo lucky!
1) I squealed for Beth too! (and then put in a shameless plug for an ARC on my blog. *blushes*)
2) I'm totally, completely, ridiculously jealous that you're going to NYC for such an exciting, amazing event. Please provide pictures so I can live vicariously through you.
Oh, and as far as your wardrobe problems: double up on the spanks and you're good to go! ;)
(that's like...the THEME of my wardrobe)
Awesome list! And you know what? Every single book that wins some major award and has all this buzz, I don't like. So it's not just you...
Have fun in NYC! It would be impossible not to talk to you! But I feel ya. I'm going to a book launch party tonight, and I'm terrified people are going to point at me and go, "What's SHE doing here??"
You'll do AWESOME in NY!! I have no doubt! And, isn't that the best news about Beth?! I'm so excited for her!
I wish I could attend a book launch party:( I guess I'll just sit at home and work on my book instead.
My truth for today? Hmm... Same as the one I put on Elana's I procrastinate when it comes to writing blog post, and I've managed to put it off completely for three weeks now. I'm terrible :(
But, I too am curious as to what book it was you all read and hated. I don't really pay any attention to awards or anything like that, unless I'm imagining my name in front or behind them lol.
Have fun in NYC. And at least you have each other to talk to at your event. That's something.
I LOVE spring cleaning! Ah, we should be bffs. We can write long emails about how amazing it feels to have clean rooms... bathrooms... closets... kitchens..
No? Really? Okay, fine. sigh.
I hear ya on the reading blogs thing too. It gets really hard sometimes! And I MISS it when I'm in one of those phases.
I'm so excited for Beth! And the cleaning...My house so needs it!
I have so many things to say.
1)Obviously there is something wrong with your mirror.
2)Spring cleaning...yes there is something wrong with you.
3)I am extremely jealous of this Beth Revis person. She looks like she is sixteen. But then everyone is starting to look like they are sixteen.
4)I have read a few books on the NYT bestsellers list that people raved about. They were not good. I just keep it to myself. I think these may be like the Oscars Best Picture. No one wants to admit they don't understand what the hell it is about.
And my final thought...pack those flats but you cannot go to NYC without hooker heels.
Oh good truths. Mine is I lied and said I had a headache when I just couldn't be bothered to go out - how boring of me....
My truth? Your #9 is kill. Ing. Me. (That's killing me. For all you people who speak proper English.)
I gave up CHOCOLATE for Lent. I'm dying!
My truth: I can't stop listening to Lady Gaga's Telephone.
Yes the Beth news is so squee worthy! Great news!
I wish I could enjoy cleaning, my mom like lives and breathes for it. I cannot stand it. At. All.
Truth, I'm fighting with my best friend. Like bad yelling at each other fighting. And you'd think I'd be more upset about it, but I'm not I'm kind of happy I can give her the cold shoulder and there is something wrong with that.
People will want to talk to you in NY. I love the kind of neighbor of you are. Truth? Same as yours re: blog visiting, plus add in blog writing. No time because I am getting lots of other writing done! Finally.
I read #1 too fast, and then thought to myself.... 'Why do Brazilian outfits make her look 6 months pregnant?' A bazillion makes way more sense....
