The Bookanistas: PARANORMALCY by Kiersten White

Ok, so unless you've been living under a rock you've probably heard all about PARANORMALCY by Kiersten White. The truth is we've been stalking Kiersten for a long, long time now. Yeah, we follow her hilarious blog and we turn green with envy every time she posts a witty tweet. Kiersten pretty much rocks and while we'd really like to hate her because she's so funny and talented and her debut novel is generating a crapload of buzz, she also happens to be very, very nice, so it's pretty much impossible NOT to like her. Hmph.

And even more annoying, PARANORMALCY totally lives up to all the hype.

Geez, some people...

Here's what the back cover has to say:

Evie’s always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours.

But Evie’s about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

So much for normal.

LiLa's Take:
Evie is SO much fun. She's hot, relatable AND she knows how to kick some vampire ass. What's not to love?

I don't want to give too much away here, but PARANORMALCY is a completely fresh take on paranormal YA. It kind of flips the whole genre on its head and Kiersten's light and engaging style makes this a REALLY fun read. And the romance...sigh...let's just say there are good boys and bad boys and the whole thing is very dreamy/steamy. Loved.

Still not convinced? You can read the first 70 pages online for free. Read it now and tell me that you're not dying to pre-order. Just add it onto your Mockingjay order. There's still time for pre-order prices AND free shipping.

Here's what the other Bookanistas are up to this week:

I'm just glad I pre-ordered through B&N and can get it the day it comes out so I can jump right back into it where the sneak preview left off. (Or just re-read those first seventy pages because they're that engaging.)

I LOVED this book!! And I felt the same way, sort of hoping that Kiersten was a snob or mean or something--I mean, seriously, is it possible that a brilliant, entertaining writer could also be sweet and kind? It's too much to handle. For real.

Oh wait, there's also you guys. Man, this is too much. Too much fabulosity embodied. It's a world I just don't understand. I need to go watch some Jersey Shore or something. Or Paris Hilton. It's not that I don't love how great you all are--it's that it tilts the balance of nature. Super writers cannot also be super people. Tell me you at least have humps on your backs.

I read the first 70 pages this morning. Now I can't stop thinking about it and freaking over having to wait 11 days to find out what happens.

This is going to be my favorite this year, I've loved a few so far but I can tell...this is the one. Of course, next year will be Liar Society.lol

LOL. I've already preordered it!!!!

So I'm not even going to look at the first 70 pages until I get the book.

I met Kiersten in LA. She's made of adorable. :D

Don't call this a comeback

So it’s been a minute. Or 10. Or truthfully more like 2,102,400. At least we think that’s how many minutes there are in 3 years, but let...
