Myths and Misconceptions by literary agent Holly Root, and editors Molly O’Neill and Martha Mihalick

Have you always wondered what agents and editors are REALLY thinking? Tune into this amazing Q&A session with literary agent Holly Root and editors Molly O’Neill and Martha Mihalick. Don't miss this fascinating inside look at publishing!

Please note: We've posted this discussion in two parts due to it's length, but believe me you'll want to watch the entire thing. Enjoy!

P.S. Special thanks to Holly's husband Jon Root for his mad vlog editing/moderating skills.

Wow! This was so good!

Not just the information, though that was wonderful, but mostly I liked being able to "meet" you and get a feel for what kind of people you are and what your sensibilities are!

Thanks ladies- this was awesome! Kidlit just makes me smile. It brings out the best in people! Especially Holly's line at the end: "So be a good person, write your books, and you will be totally okay, and we will give you a cookie!"

You guys are THE BEE'S KNEES!

(and I have been warned, I will not be the bathroom author, and I will not be known for my package!)

A-Dorable. I'm so lucky that I work with one of these women, but obviously any of them would be a joy. I know from experience, it takes guts to make a vlog. It's very cool that they've done this for our benefit. Hopefully, lots of writers will see it and be inspired.

That was AWESOME! I totally enjoyed it. Wow...literary agents and editors are REAL people, huh? "Hoo wudda thunk it?"
Just kidding, of course.

(By the way...thanks to Jon Root for doing such a nice job! He was funny and really put everyone at ease. It was great.)

Thanks,
Cynde

Oh, excuse me, I need to go have a cookie now!

This was wonderful and so generous of you ladies to take the time to answer so many questions us authors have been dying to know! We read so many things that make us wonder if publishers and editors are just really scarey people, so its great to see that you are just normal, professional people. And that you are in this to help us reach the ultimate goal of writing and producing a wonderful book for children to read! I thank you.

LADIES - how on earth did you manage to resist those yummy looking cookies staring at you in the face...all the way through the interview...???!

ADORED this video. I especially felt comforted by the advice on networking. This is my opinion too so I was relieved to hear it from the professionals.

THANK YOU!

Don't call this a comeback

So it’s been a minute. Or 10. Or truthfully more like 2,102,400. At least we think that’s how many minutes there are in 3 years, but let...
