LiLa LIVE

So...we have our first ever, real-live, author event scheduled tonight with a Mother-Daughter book club at a local library. We're not gonna lie, we're REALLY excited about it. It combines three of our favorite things--moms (naturally), kids (obviously) and BOOKS (hello!?).

BUT

We're semi-freaking out. What if no one comes? What if we're boring? What if we constantly talk over each other? Oh wait, that's not a what-if. You should have heard our maid of honor speech at Stacey's wedding.

Here are a few things we have planned...
  • A short reading
  • Short overview of our publication experience, writing process
  • Share our cover journey (and what a journey it's been)
  • Share our book trailer (and some behind-the-scenes pics)
  • Question/Answer
  • Wash down chocolate-covered Twizzlers with Diet Coke
Any other ideas? What would you guys want us to talk about if you had the honor of to endure listening to the two of us yammering about writing for 45 minutes.

Laura's praying there's not a podium. Lisa's secretly hoping for a stage.

This is going to be interesting....

You will have to let us know how it goes. I am sure you are worried over nothing. Enjoy.

Good luck, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Have fun with it.

I'm sure you'll do fine. Your general outline sounds like something I'd want to attend, if you were in my area. =o)

I think it'd be great if you chatted about how you both have 'found your voice' through writing and blogging, and how important that is. You have a very authentic voice on your blog. It's so important to be who we are in whatever we decided to do!

Good Luck!

I think if you're just yourselves and share the journey with your sisterly "love", they'll enjoy it.

One of the great things about kids is they always have questions. Lots of them. I think the Q and A could cover at least 15 or 20 minutes.

Good luck!

Good luck! I know the two of you will be great!

Okay, you two and Elana are cracking me up this morning. You're all going to rock with awesomeness.

I didn't know they made chocolate-covered Twizzlers. Boy, we must be deprived in Canada. :(

Just be yourselves! I know that's hokey and extremely hard to do when put on the spot like you all are but it works. Be as friendly and funny as you are on your blog (and probably IRL, too) and people will respond. Plus, after your intro/chat, there will be questions. I don't think you'll have to worry about that--readers are naturally curious about writers!

Good luck, ladies! You'll be awesome.

Be your funny, awesome selves and it will rock! Wish I could be there! :)

I'm sure you ladies will be dazzling, extraordinary and effervescent. I'm liking adjectives this morning.

Just be the LiLa we all know and love.

You'll be amazing.

If you have 45 minutes of the dynamic this post has, you'll be golden.

Wait. So ... mom's, kids, and books, but no DILFs? I guess that could work.

I think it's genetically impossible for you two to be boring. Go, go, go!!

You're going to be great, and the bright side is you will have each other to keep the conversation going! People will show up. Just remember to breathe. :)

You know you're gonna be great.

I would ask how you make your personality differences work for you to create the awesomeness that is your writing.lol

Also how you find the time to do everything with all your other familial responsibilities.
(I like to say it that way because it sounds so mafia)

I'm sure you'll have a great time and will be awesome. My only advice is to not forget to breathe. That's kinda important. ;) More seriously - just relax and be yourselves. We all love you so I'm sure your audience will too.

How exciting! Congrats on your "gig"! :D 45 minutes will fly by, with all that you have planned, plus two of you to bounce back and forth, plus Q&A. You'll probably wish you had more time when it ends! :) Break a leg!

Would love to be there. Sounds like a blast. You two are the funniest bloggers I know. Nicole's advice was sound. Just take a few deep breaths. Most people make the mistake of talking too fast.

And personally, I love having a podium when I have to speak at the bookstore (to introduce authors). It gives you something to hide behind or lean on!

Eeeeep! So exciting! I hope there's a stage and lots of people flashing cameras at you. Wish I could be there to see it all. It's gonna be great!

You better include how this event went in tomorrow's post!!!
Your worries were:

*What if no one comes?
yeah right, it will be packed.
*What if we're boring?
like THAT could ever happen...nope, don't count on it.
*What if we constantly talk over each other?
oh please, of course you will, you always do, and then you start laughing- and so will your audience- and everyone will be happy.

Here's my questions....so how long did the applause at the end last? and How many kids asked for your autographs???

Oh, I SO wish I could be there! You two will be awesome. Amazingly awesome.

Don't call this a comeback

So it’s been a minute. Or 10. Or truthfully more like 2,102,400. At least we think that’s how many minutes there are in 3 years, but let...
