The Breakthrough

It happened. This morning on the phone Laura and I were doing our usual Monday morning ranting about how sick we are of waiting, wondering what editors are thinking about the MS and re-reading Major Agents old e-mails like Tarot Cards. And finally we made a decision.

We must start a new project.

Yeah, we're going a little crazy with all the waiting and it's either write or take up scrapbooking. And I think we all know how I feel about scrapbooking.

We've been talking about starting the next book for a few weeks now. But we've been a little stuck. We don't want to start Book 2 of the Kate Lowry Mysteries just yet because the editor we (hopefully) end up working with might have a completely different vision for the book and/or series as a whole. Plus, we're just not ready to dive back into Kate's world. It just feels like she's stuck in submissions limbo right now. We have the book outlined, but it's just not time to start writing. Yet.

SO, we're back to Pride and Purity. But we've been sort of stuck with that too. We were missing that one tiny little thing that most writers refer to as a plot. We needed conflict. But today, we nailed it. We figured out exactly what the major catastrophic event is that throws all of our little characters into a huge tizzy and rocks their world.

Good. Times.

it helps so bury your anxiety in a new book project - doesn't it? :)

Hi - found your blog via Sara's. New projects always seem to inject the perfect amount of life into a writer's brain. Good luck!!!

A new manuscript is the best way to pass time while you wait. But if you ever change your mind, I have a crapload of scrapbooking stuff you can have on the cheap. Mostly unused and still in its original packaging. Yeah, once upon a time I went to a scrapbooking party....

And, funny, I didn't even notice the new blog digs until I started reading the comments. Hello? In my own world, or what???

Cool new look! And, good call to focus that energy into your next book. After all, the one on sub now will quickly be sold (probably in a heated auction), then sell millions and then your dream agent will say "Quick L&L, write something more!". I which case, you will pull out Pride and Purity. See? Perfect!

That is awesome! I'm so happy for you guys! Doesn't it feel great when you have a breakthrough?!

I am LOVING this new blog look! And I totally remember commenting on this yesterday?! Maybe I emailed?! I had an idea for Pride and Purity - which I might add is one of my favorite titles of all time!

Shelli - Yes, a new project definitely does seem to help.

Corey - We're still struggling a little bit. I think mostly because we're flipping from a mystery to a romantic comedy, so we want there to be MORE plot wise, but it's never going to be a mystery, you know?

Tara - You know you'll be the first to read...hope you're ready for Bingley.

LitGirl - Glad you like the new blog. I think it matches the website better or that was my excuse anyways.

Nisa - Thanks! It does feel good to be writing new stuff again. We missed it!

SF/Danyelle/Sara - Thanks guys!

KM - Welcome! We love new blog friends!

Kimberly - Yeah, somehow you don't strike me as the scrapbooking type...

Christine - Thanks! Let's just hope this works. We'll see.

Tess - I love you. That comment totally made that day. Are you psychic?

P-Clo - Yes! Breakthroughs are great especially when you're living in doubt city.

Katie - Yes, your suggestion was fab! And one we had actually considered. We're still mulling.

I love it when something just *ding* comes to you and you get that renewed excitement to write. I bet you'll have so much fun getting your heads around different characters and plot lines to decompress after the mystery. Good luck and nice new blog. I always liked dandelions.

That is a dandelion right?

lisa and laura said...

Definitely a dandelion. Er...I think.

Don't call this a comeback

So it’s been a minute. Or 10. Or truthfully more like 2,102,400. At least we think that’s how many minutes there are in 3 years, but let...
