Buon Natale!

So, I'm feeling pretty good about Christmas this year. I'm finally done with all of my shopping after a last minute trip to the mall yesterday that ended with Mia and I taking an uneventful ride down the escalator while Jack screamed hysterically at the top by himself, too scared to step on. I mistakenly assumed that at four-and-a-half-years-old and with numerous practice trips up and down escalators across the greater Cleveland area under his belt that he'd be ready to ride down without a death grip on my hand. I was wrong. Thankfully one of my fellow shoppers (obviously a super mom in disguise) scooped his 53 pound butt up and carried him down to safety. Merry Christmas Super Mom, here's five Percocets for your trouble. Trust me, you'll need it after hauling Jack down a flight of moving stairs.

Anyways, now all I've got left to do is wrap presents and wait for the inevitable Christmas plague to manifest. You know, the one that leaves your kids glassy eyed and infected just moments before you leave for church on Christmas Eve. Can't. Wait.

But tonight everyone is in bed and I've taken the night off which translates into me watching my favorite Christmas movie of all time, Love Actually, and eating caramel Hershey Kisses. I'm sure you remember why we're all out of Twizzlers.

In just under 48 hours my children will be completely delirious from lack of sleep and over-stimulation, and I'll most likely be administering twice daily doses of Ammoxacillin while threatening to take all their presents back. But until then, I've got this to get me through:

And yes, it's in Italian. (For the record, at the end he says: Enough. Enough now.) I couldn't find an English version that would allow embedding, so...Buon Natale dear friends. And remember, it's not Christmas unless you're half-wishing some adorable guy would come to your door with poster sized flash cards to save you from eating yet another tub of candy cane ice cream. XOXO

Ohhhh Love Actually. I adore this film, but everyone I seem to meet in Utah hates it! For some reason...everything sounds better in Italian. And French. I'll take it haha :)

I've never seen this movie, but so many seem to love it. I think I'm going to have to check it out!

Merry Christmas!

Oh, at least you didn't try to run up the escalator like my mom (when Jordan stayed at the top) and then trip and gash your leg open and have to go to the ER for stitches!

Ah, Love, Actually. Colin Firth is so dreamy, no?

And what is it about escalators? I fell down one at age five in the Sears store at our local mall. I remember people grabbing at my clothes on the way down...

Merry Christmas, ladies! Here's hoping the antibiotics are unnecessary and the Twizzler supply unending for the next week or two.

Adventures with escalators, I know how that is! Better spike that egg nog! Better yet get more twizzlers. I found they are great with Strawberry wine ;)

Cheers everyone!

I've never seen Love Actually. Now I'll have to.

Yeah, escalators... I HATE them... even though Im pretty good at getting on them in stilettos...

I was never scared as a child I think because it never occurred to me that they could be dangerous. Then when I was sevenish I fell on a treadmill and my hair got wrapped around one of the belt wheels (my hair was down passed my ass) and I was almost scalped (thank bananas for older cousins in shining armor who pull plugs out of the wall and save the screaming ninnies). After that I'd get right on a treadmill but I was afraid of escalators. Go figure.

And then I saw a Rescue 911 show (does anyone else remember that show?) where a two year old got the hood of his sweatshirt stuck in the stairs of the escalator...

Alright, now that I've blathered over escalators I'll just say congrats on the shopping, have fun with the wrapping, and good luck with the plague! :D

Love Actually is one of my favorites! Although, I can't watch the Laura Linney or Alan Rickman plot lines without screaming at them.

I LOVE caramel hershey kisses, but can't find them anywhere here anymore. That makes me so sad!

Merry Christmas to y'all, too!

Love Actually is my favorite present wrapping movie. I put it on, closed the door to mommie's workshop (bedroom) and leisurely wrap, taking the entire length of the movie to get it done.

My favorite scene? The race through the airport!

I love that movie!!! And omg escalators for some reason used to show up a lot in my dreams--I was never capable of going up or down them-so bizarre. I can handle them fine though in real life.

I've never seen Love Actually either, but I keep hearing good things about it, so I guess that means I need to get it off Netflix now.

Merry Christmas!

I used to love to ride the escalators as a kid, now I get all cautious about approaching the first step, and a little anxious about the last...

My youngest had an escalator incident involving stitches when he was about 2. Lots of fun!

As they get older, the need for Amoxicillin or its variants decreases for some unknown reason. Hopefully you're penicillin free this year. Good luck and all the best for the happiest of holidays :)

Haha! Fortunately, I can't get candy can ice cream here. Unfortunately, it just means I'm eating mint chocolate chip instead.

Merry Christmas to you and your families! (And good luck!)

Ah, Love Actually. *Sighs* Sorry--what was I saying? I was too busy thinking about Hugh Grant dancing around to the pointer sisters.

Oh right-great post (as always) and hope your kids stay warm and healthy this year. :)

I used to be very anti-Love Actually, but I recently rewatched it and I liked it a lot more. Even though there are like 16 different storylines, I always feel like there's something missing. Or someone missing.
Oh, fine! I know, Johnny doesn't feel like he needs to add a Christmas romedy (romantic + comedy) to his resume, but it would be sooo perfect, you know?

*sigh*

Also, you need more Twizzlers. They're red and Christmas-y!

PS: Escalators scare me a little still. Tell Jack he's not alone.

Jenn (Books At Midnight) said...

Happy holidays too! And, lol, poor Jack. Glad there was a mom there to save him!
And, hm, haven't heard of Love Actually, but it seems interesting. All I got was Kiera Knightly and heartbreak, so I might have to check it out sometime (especially with all these positive comments!).

WHY is it that kids get crazy sick right at the major holidays?!? I swear mine get sick every Thanksgiving or Christmas too!

Oh, and promise us you'll share what you get from hubby for Christmas this year. I can't wait to find out what gem he's picked out this year. :)

I don't think I've seen this movie. How is that possible?

Either way, I still need to locate all the presents stashed around my house and wrap them. Less than 48 hours you say?

Crap.

Love Actually is a great one! I'm going to catch an episode of The Tudors, drink some wine, and eat chocolate pretzels.

Tomorrow night I'm assembling a 134 piece pyramid that the directions claim will take 2 1/2 hours. I'm thinking it might take longer.
