Vacation By Numbers

Well, we're thrilled to announce that the first ever mega-Roecker vacation was a raging success. We had a fantastic time relaxing and (as of this blog post) all members of the Roecker family are still (somewhat) happily married. Win.

In case you guys were curious about our week in the sun here's some stats to give you an idea of how the Roeckers roll.

  • Number of children who puked on the 12 hour drive to Hilton Head: 2
  • Ounces of puke that can miraculously be contained in a french fry container from Wendy's: 6 oz.
  • Number of Roeckers who read MOCKINGJAY: 4
  • Number of Roeckers who loved the ending, but found the first 150 pages kind of boring: 2
  • Number of Young Adult books read by the Regulator: 3 (she's a convert!)
  • Total number of Dora DVDs lost in a mysterious accident: 1
  • Number of times we checked LIAR SOCIETY's Amazon rank: Too many to count
  • Number of books we made The Regulator pre-order to see how it would impact our rank: 3
  • Number of books The Regulator agreed to buy to help our B&N sales rank: 0
  • Number of kids with sun poisoning: 1
  • Number of daughters concerned about their father's seemingly endless knowledge of America's Got Talent: 3
  • Number of flat tires on the way home: 1
  • Number of almost trips to Labor and Delivery: 1
  • Number of e-mails from Major Agent that made us squee: 1
So, there you have it. We had quite a week and now we're ready to buckle down and get cracking on our super secret new project. Oh, and I guess I should probably start getting ready for this baby, right? Yeah. Might be a good idea.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Epic Book Recommendation Week. The lucky winner of all five books is Aik! Aik please e-mail us your mailing address so we can get your books in the mail.

Awesome (mostly)! I was a little worried about you guys with all the hurricanes they kept mentioning, but it sounds like you made it out okay, minus one tire and some vomit.

Glad to have you back!

Awesome! Sounds like a great trip overall.

Oh, and just one more thing...please do NOT tell me anything more about the vomit in the fry container. I keep seeing it dripping out holes in the bottom and....ewww, just don't.

You CAN tell us what the news was from Major Agent that made you squee...

Glad you had a good vacation. Beach, family, reading - whenever I try to read at the lake - I get in trouble for not socializing. But last week, I did manage a few chapters of Mockingjay.

Awesome. Your roadtrip tweets were cracking me up so hard I had to read them out loud to my husband.

YAY--welcome back!

I finally get to read MOCKINGJAY this week (once it gets here!). Thanks for the warning about the first 150 pgs.

I can't wait to hear about the "Sqee" announcement. :D

Glad that things went so well on the trip. It's funny what will hold puke.

Best of luck with the new project.

I will never eat french fries again.
I love this post. Almost as good as being there (and not having to do any disposing of french fry containers.) I'm so glad you had a wonderful time.

Babies? Amazon ranks? Squee-worthy agent letters? Mama mia, I've missed out on a lot. Hugs?

Puking on vacation sucks. Glad you all made it back safely.

SO curious as to content of squee-worthy agent email. You tease.

Sounds like a successful trip! I'm jealous that you were able to squeeze one more in before the baby. And I agree with the Mockingjay assessment--loved it overall, but the beginning dragged.

Nothing like puke in a french fry box!

Congrats to the lucky winner! *green with envy*

Glad you didn't pop the baby out on vacation. I was a little worried about you.

Love,
Lola

You gotta love those driving vacations. The one we took this summer was 12-13 hours too.

At least no one puked on ours. Thats about all I can in favor of it.lol

Sounds like QUITE the vacation. Glad to have you girls back!

Glad you're back safe and sound. No more opening with puke. Hard to get past that. :)

P.S. Been loving your book reviews. So many to add to the TBR pile!

Baby?! Wow~ congratulations!

Glad you all made it home safe and sound, and full of charm:)

LOL--wow, it sounds like you had QUITE a trip. And I must say, I'm impressed with your family. I only have one sister and she only has one kid (I have zero kids) but I think if you put me and her and my husband and my parents all in a house for a week I'd either end up jumping off something high up or we'd all end up not talking to each other for a while. And we're not even a disfunctional family. Well, not THAT much. ;)

WOW! I won? This is the best thing ever! Thank you so much! :D

What a trip! And really, would it be a car trip with kids if someone didn't hurl?

Can't wait to hear about the agent email that made you squee!
