Remembering...

This day will always bring sadness.

Every year.

Every Christmas.

But it's getting a little easier to look back on all the good times.

We'll never forget.

We'll never be the same.

We will always remember.

For the record, I totally blame you for Jack's attitude problem.

When he gets arrested for public indecency (because let's face it, it's really only a matter of time) I know you'll be laughing your ass off.

I miss you, Mike.

My thoughts are with you.
I do not know the story, the beauty is that I don't have to. Remembering someone important to us is solitary yet not. There are, I am sure, many who share in your memories and thoughts of Mike, yet they cannot understand your heart as you flicker through the moments now gone. It is that individual collection that makes life so magical. We can all stand at the same event yet each see it so differently. It is the same for people. We could all know or have known Mike yet each perception, each love for his character, each annoyance at little things would be different. It is a wondrous thing to love someone.
I hope your holiday is full of all the memorable moments that you have of Mike...may you smile as you picture him laughing as he watches, reads & enjoys watching you on your journey that is life.

I second everything Southern Princess said-she has such a way with words. But you knoe I am reaching through the internets with a hug and a smile for you at all times.

Sometimes people forget that the holidays can also be a sad time as we remember, and miss, our loved ones. Ultimately it sounds like those memories bring you more joy than sadness. Bittersweet.

You drew a perfect picture in so few words. I'm moved by your loss and how you've come to terms with it, with humor and love. Hugs.

Thank you for posting this, it's simple eloquence spoke to my heart. Today, a number of years ago, my mom passed. She loved Christmas, so this season is always bittersweet.

Know that there are plenty of people out there sharing solidarity with you in this time. Remember the good times and keep smiling...though I don't know the story, I'm sure he's looking on with love and laughter of all the great memories, as well :)

Just copy Princess Courtney's comments and put them here in my box. I don't think any of us could say it any better or more beautifully than she did. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

It's tough when someone you care about passes close to a major holiday. It creates an ache that becomes part of the season.

Hugs to you both.

I. too, am thinking of you and hoping that time will heal your sadness, but allow the warm memories to shine through. I'm also guessing that Mike have been a prankster if you're claiming Jack's future indecent exposure will be his fault. Maybe he taught Jack to go outside and "water a bush" like someone did when my nephews were small :-)
Gail

Wishing you the warmth and joy of the season

This was really beautiful. This can be such a hard time of year for anyone who has lost someone (which is really almost everyone). I love the little bit of joyful sadness at the end, seeing some of Jack in Mike. Thinking of you, and of everyone.
