The Awkward Tween Challenge: LiLa vs. L'Adele

As some of you may or may not have noticed, we recently updated our Twitter profile picture to THIS:

Thanks to Stacey, we have an entire flash drive FULL of awkward childhood pics and we're not afraid to use it. Our goal in this instance was to find one of the most awkward and humiliating and post it for public consumption. Please note the virgin brows, matching letter jackets and most tragic of all, Lisa's clear braces and mock turtleneck with tiny little leaves painted on.

Adele Griffin (who may or may not be a long lost Roecker christened L'Adele) claimed on Twitter that she could out awkward us with THIS:

Admittedly, she's sitting on Santa's lap wearing plastic earrings and a Mona Lisa smile. Awkwardness abounds, but I honestly think our triangle hair cuts have her beat.

We agreed to put it to a vote, dear readers and that's where you come in:

Who was the most awkward Tween?

And for the record, we have PLENTY of awkward in our archives and we'd love to make this a regular feature. SO...if you have a childhood pic that you think can outawkward LiLa send your picture here . We'll feature you on the blog and let the readers decide.

Ha! You think those are bad?? I could totally kick your butts. If I had any clue where I've hidden my awkward teen photos. Yes, they were so bad, I hid them. But now that my parents have moved twice, I have no clue where they are.

I feel that ultimately I should win this contest for no other reason than my cowlick sprout that, in the shadow, looks like a vicious
horn.

We just took a commanding lead. I think it's the letter jackets with no real connection to sports, solely a mark of our school pride, that are winning the race for us.

I'd send one but I'm still a teen, and if anyone sees them...I may remain alone forever. But I'll think about it!

hey L'osers one vote is Not a commanding lead, and i know you each voted. and I would like to point out that buried in my mousebrown hair is a mousebrown headband that exactly matches.

also, my aunt (another Adele) has an awkward left hand placement happening. and that should count for something. i am not in this mess alone.

I had that same "triangle haircut" (hilarious, I've never heard it named), with a PERM, which accentuated said triangle, and attempted spray-up bangs which always flopped over (maybe a good thing.) I can beat your leaf-print mock-neck with an southwest patterened mockneck with matching wide-shouldered sweater (showing off that mock like nobody's bidness). Thankfully, no braces, but my teeth are crooked. So, who wins there.

Oh, sister. You're both going down. I'll have to scan the pic with my mullet, but I'll get it to you...

OH MY GOD, I can SO WIN this contest. But first it requires a trip to my parents' house to fetch the photo I have in mind.

But in the meantime, I think Adele-on-Santa's lap wins the prize. :D

That is so funny. Did you model your look after Full House?

I once wanted to burn all those photos, but they're way too much fun to look back at! :)

What happened? You reposted b/c the vote wasn't working? Or was my comment too mean?

Don't call this a comeback

So it’s been a minute. Or 10. Or truthfully more like 2,102,400. At least we think that’s how many minutes there are in 3 years, but let...
