Latifah vs. Lyrca

Not sure if any of you watched the hot mess that was the American Idol finale last night, but Queen Latifah opted to wear a unitard.

In case you're unfamiliar with the atrocity that is a unitard, here's a little Wiki-help for you:

A unitard is a skin-tight one-piece garment with long legs and sometimes long sleeves. It differs from a leotard in that a leotard does not have long legs. The garment can be considered to be a combination of a leotard and tights. It should not be confused with a wrestling singlet.

I don't care what you look like, how big, how small, head-to-toe Lycra is just a bad idea. Not to mention super-hot. As in toasty. Although maybe that's why the costume-designer left one arm off the suit?

And no queen should ever be caught dead in something that could potentially be confused with a wrestling singlet.

Questions? Concerns? Conjectures about potential diseases that might result from wearing clothing this tight? Please share in the comments.

LOL! I saw that and thought, wow she's brave. Cuz I am roughly the size of a small whale and I don't even glance at lycra whilst shopping. So wow. Gotta give her the props for that, right?

Katie - So glad that you didn't opt for a skin tight jumper. When are you sending pictures? And for the record, unitards and jumpers are totally different animals.

LitGirl - I'm totally going to buy Lydia a unitard, just for illustrative purposes. It's a bad idea, even for a 1-year-old.

Elana - Hey, if it was going to work on anyone, it would be Latifah. She oozes confidence. BUT I think we can all agree that unitards are never a good idea. Never.

I somehow found this less offensive than Rod Stewart's plaid jacket though.

That picture really shouldn't be viewed from the waist down. Yikes!

On my thinnest days, when I worked out constantly - like CONSTANTLY, during the 80's when lycra was the new...IDK, it just was worn everywhere...I still reserved that kind of thing for the dance studio ONLY!!!

WOW!

Don't call this a comeback

So it’s been a minute. Or 10. Or truthfully more like 2,102,400. At least we think that’s how many minutes there are in 3 years, but let...
