For as long as I can remember I've always hated Sunday nights. There's just something so inherently depressing and lonely about the end of a weekend.
I think Angela Chase said it best:
"There's something about Sunday night that really makes you wanna kill yourself. Especially if you've just been totally made a fool of by the only person you'll ever love and you have a Geometry midterm on Monday, which you still haven't studied for because you can't because Brian Krakow has your textbook and you're too embarrassed to even deal with it. And your little sister's completely finished with her homework, which is just, like, so simple and mindless a child could do it. And that creepy 60 Minutes watch that sounds like your whole life ticking away."
There's a part of me that still associates Mondays with Geometry midterms and Brian Krakow. And in spite of the fact that I now watch 60 minutes (talk about irony...), I still think of Jordan Catalano and suicide every time I hear that ticking clock. I guess deep down I'm still an angsty 16-year-old, only now my angst is reserved for things like trips to the grocery store and camp schedules. Jealous?
God, I hate Sundays.
But watching this makes me feel just a little bit better...
P.S.
If all of the My So-Called Life references were completely lost on you, stop reading our lame blog and buy, borrow or steal the complete first season. Now. Seriously.

I'm with you, sister. I hate Sundays. There's something about them that cannot be enjoyed. I can be at the pool, sipping on a mojito and it just doesn't taste the same. It is as if you are mourning Friday night all day Sunday.
And I hate Andy Rooney's little bit on 60 minutes. He actually pulled a dinner roll out of his pocket once and said that he was snatching them from restaurants during lunch because of the economy. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.
I loved My So Called Life. And as for Sunday nights, they've been boring ever since Sex and the City went off the air. *sigh* Watching it on dvd is just not the same :)
When I watched that I was immediately taken back to our old family room, remote control in hand, rewinding and rewinding and rewinding. I knew all the words to the song...
Squeeee!! That was my favorite show in the whole world. I was madly in love with Jordan Catalano. (and why is it we have to always say his full name?) My favorite scene is when Jordan finally holds Angela's hand in the hallway in fron of the whole school!
Ok, now I love you girls even more (even though I don't actually know you!) knowing you're fans of the best show ever.
And yes Sunday nights are the worst but now that I'm a SAHM they don't suck quite as bad. No work or school for me on Monday mornings. Woot woot! Ohhh what about the last day of summer vacation? Ugh, the thought of that still makes me puke in my mouth a little.
Note to self - watch the video before making comments. I'm a dork, I tell you about my fav scene and it's the one you posted a clip of. SO yes, it's obvious I watched it AFTER posting my first comment. Hey, at least you know I REALLY love that scene now right? I thought it would be the opening credits song! Silly me. I should have known you'd go for the biggest baddest scene of them all. Lesson learned! I swear this is my last overly long comment of the day. Sorry, guess I got all worked up over the My So Called Life reference...
I love Sundays. I feel like it's my last moment of quiet, my last few minutes with my hubby before he disappears for the week, my last night to stay up late and read a book on the couch with my son.
Last night I was up until 1:30, just because I didn't want the day to end.
I knew you guys were wierd ;)
I love that clip of My So Called Life! I've never seen that show actually; it looks really cute! (And by really cute, I mean really sexy -- who is that sultry brown-haired boy? Mmmm)
Best show EVER!!!! I love that scene and the quote about Sundays is so perfect. The only thing that I still get so angry with about that show is that they only had one season and they left on somewhat of a cliffhanger. I think they should do a movie and tie everything up. You girls should write the screenplay!
LMJ - Ooh, Andy Rooney is the worst thing about 60 Minutes! Horrible! And can't you just picture him stealing dinner rolls?? Eew.
Sherrie - I re-watched the entire season when I was pregnant. They were airing them at 4 AM on the N and I had major insomnia. It was the best. And you are so right about Sex in the City. Sundays have never been the same.
Laura - I know! I even remember the way the VCR remote looked. It might be time to break out your Jordan Catalano collage.
Rebecca - I love your long comments and it's so funny that we share the same favorite scene. It really was the best show ever. It's so mid-90's. I love it.
Tess - You sound like my husband. He loves Sundays!
Sara - If you do only one thing on your summer vacay you MUST go to the library and request the full season of My So-Called Life. That hot guy is Jordan Catalano and he WILL change your life. Seriously. Go. Now.
Jen - I still get angry when I think about the show being cancelled! Who would she have chosen!? I've watched that last episode a million times and I still wonder. I'm such a nerd.
I just hate Sunday nights because everything in town closes. What am I supposed to do with every freakin' store closing early?! So, then I sit at home dejectedly and watch lame Sunday night TV.
Sundays in general suck at college. Friday and Saturday you know you have a buttload of homework but you refuse to do it and party. So then, Sunday you are staring at a mountain. You wake up at like 2 pm, stay in your PJs, and study all day. You order a pizza and eat on your carpet like a homeless man. Worse, you know you have class Monday morning.
Icy - Love the "eating on the carpet like a homeless man line." Classic. I think that probably sums up my 4-years in college pretty well.
Sigh....
That show was the best....
Okay, maybe tied with Felicity.
Jordan Catalano is dreamy. Brian is cute, but he reminds me of my ex-administrative assistant and that would just be icky to be attracted to my administrative assistant.
I hate nights in general. Too much to do, too little time to do it in. Nighttime reminds me of all the blank little boxes next to bulleted items on my to-do list. >.<
Woah, I have not seen that show in for-ev-er. It got me through (don't hate me) middle school! NOw can someone please tell me how the Ramones were not on the show soundtrack???!
Eva - I'd have a tough time choosing between Felicity and My So-Called Life.
Danyelle - I need to start writing to do lists again. I always had one going when I was working, but now...I just sort of do what I do.
Jo - It's a travesty that "I Wanna Be Sedated" didn't make the soundtrack. I remember having to buy the Best of The Ramones to add it to my mix tape. And for the record, I threw up a little bit in my mouth when you said this show got your through middle school!
