Tell the Truth Tuesday

1. I found Gossip Girl slightly confusing last night. What does that say about my mental capacity?

2. I'm feeling very anti-Christmas shopping this year. What is wrong with me? Where is my capitalist Christmas spirit?

3. My house currently looks like Santa Claus threw up inside of it. Christmas lights of every color are plastered to every available surface. Jack thought it would be fun to have all of our outdoor Christmas lights inside this year and because my house will never look like this, I figured what the hell.

4. I sort of want to do another vlog. Maybe a LiLa holiday special?

5. My daughter now thinks Blake Lively and Laura are the same person. My husband stopped the Saturday Night Live recording to watch his stupid football game in HD, so I was forced to watch clips of the show on-line. Mia crawled into my lap and wanted to know who the host was, so I told her Auntie Laura. She was totally impressed.

6. I sort of want it to snow here. It hasn't really snowed at all in Cleveland yet which is unprecedented for December. I know I'm going to be kicking myself for this come January, but I'd love a little snow. The kids get so excited when they see a few flakes that I can't imagine what they'll do when we have a few inches.

7. Spanx have changed my life. I wish there was some way to have them permanently stapled to my body. I'd consider stitches, but then there's that whole issue with the bathroom...

8. I had no idea how incredible our blog followers truly are. Your comments yesterday were amazing. Even though you're virtual friends, it means a lot that you've got our backs. You guys are going to make great soldiers when it's time for Phase 4 in World Domination.

9. I haven't sent a single holiday card this year. I'm totally planning on sending them...eventually.

10. Santa is going green. Our kids have tons of aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins who love to spoil them every Christmas, and as a result we end up storing some of their Christmas gifts so we can break out some of the new toys in February after they've gotten bored of the old stuff. Well, last year I sort of forgot about all the toys that we had stored, so I'm wrapping them up and putting them under the tree again. I'm trying to put a green/recycling/eco-friendly spin on it, but really it just feels sort of cheap. Oh well...

So...what's your truth this Tuesday?

I want it to snow too, I mean TX got snow but not us? That seems inhumane.

Other than that, I finally put away 2 baskets of laundry. It would have been a great accomplishment if they hadn't been sitting there for 2 weeks. And there is still more to put away.

1. I think only a writer could accidentally mis-spell Santa Claus that way. :)
2. I have no idea what Spanx are or who Blake Lively is.
3. Sometimes I think being able to immediately google for info on things you don't know is a mixed blessing.
4. The blogosphere is kind of addictive.

No cards yet for me either...but I WILL send them, I WILL.

(Shhhh...don't tell anyone but I really don't want to go to work today.....but I WILL)

I love Christmas.

1. I should be working on real work instead of reading blogs.

2. Much as I am happy to receive a new set of tires and brakes for my combined birthday/Christmas gift from my parents, it really is nowhere near as much fun as opening presents from Santa on Christmas morning.

3. I am worried that my very sick kitty is not going to make it through Christmas, but if she does I am worried that the arrival of all the relatives will be extra stressful for her in her diminished condition.

I guess I have one more confession. After reading Simon's comment and snarfing tea all over my keyboard, I deleted the extra E in Claus even though it would be much funnier to leave it up. I don't want people to think that I'm a complete idiot...

lol! I am doing #10 as well. Don't feel cheap. Feel efficient and frugal and smart!

Love this random post! :D

1. I'm on strike, not sending cards this year. I'm using the environment as a patsy.

2. Holiday vlog sounds fun. You are soo brave. :0)

3. I have so given gifts to my kids that were theirs a looong time ago that I took away because of some angry reason and they had no clue. Don't feel cheap, what I did was CHEAP. but I really was very broke.

4. I should be working....

The truth is I feel a little bah humbug(did I spell that right? you have me all paranoid now after the Santa thing lol)! I'm just a little ticked at how comercialized the holiday has become. I want my kids to not count their x-mas presents but count their blessings...is that to much to ask? Looks like I have some work to do this year!

A holiday vlog could brighten the season ;)

Corey Schwartz said...

Ha ha. #10 won't work much longer. I used to do that with birthday gifts, but my kids are getting too smart.

I can't even s-p-e-l-l around Jordan any more. Sigh!

I'm not going to send cards this year. Cards are the most stressful Christmas tradition for me so I only send them every other year. Yes, you may call me Scrooge.

And Laura does look like Blake Lively. :)

lisa and laura said...

Lydia's been wearing her Christmas dress for three days as I try to get a decent picture of her for my Christmas cards. Apparently this is impossible for a 19 month old. She is going to be so pissed when she has to wear it for Christmas.

Truthful Tuesday:

I'm so cold and lazy I feel like just showing my classes a movie today.

I don't klnow about Spanx or Blake Lively, either (I'm with ya, Simon)

My house has entered wrecking yard status and I'm going crazy!

1) I damn near chipped my teeth on my coffee cup this am, before the coffee hit my blood stream.

2) I'm sitting in the floor of a barn, doing this instead of mucking out stalls...

3) I had to follow your Spanx link to figure out what they were

4) I don't know Blake Lively either

5) I missed your post yesterday, but I've got your back on the world domination thing... as long as I can be in charge of any cavalry that's utilized.

6) I really just want a cavalry so I can act like William Wallace, or Aragorn... horses are so high drama...

7) I know a GIANT secret and I'm not allowed to tell anyone yet... no, I'm not pregnant...

Christina Lee said...

My son was SO excited about the minor flakes we got here yesterday-they didn't stick though. Yep me too- I want snow for xmas but nothing else! Ughh the dreaded cards...

Dara said...

Yeah I'm definitely feeling the whole anti-Christmas shopping thing. Don't have a remote clue as to what to get people...and time is ticking.

My truths this Tuesday:

1. Finding it hard to get in the Christmas spirit this year :(

2. I honestly have no plans to send out Chrismas cards this year. Sad, but true.

3. When sis-in-law's wedding (planned for Dec 27 and literally put together in a month) was called off for a day, I was secretly relieved. Then became depressed again when I was told it was back on. Yes, I know I'm awful, but really, at 19 she and her hubby-to-be are really immature. And others have said so too, yet this wedding is *still* happening! And of course I have to pretend to be happy, so I can't vent to anyone about it...except everyone here :P

4. All I want to do is hibernate for the winter and wait for it to end :P Even though we haven't had more than a dusting of snow yet.

Katie Anderson said...

I'm tired. Or depressed. Or anxious. I'm not really sure.

That's my truth today.

ho hum

haha! I cracked myself up. I intended to write ho ho and it came out ho hum....

YES YES YES! Holiday edition VLOG, please do it!

My truth...I'm starting to wonder if my deal with the univers means I'm a crazy-out-of-my-mind-looytune! Where was sanity? Where was reason? Now look what I've done.

One more truth...

I totally wrote my lesson plan for class at 6:30 this morning. And it worked! Phew.

Lori W. said...

Spanx may be in order. A year of writing more diligently and the skinny jeans no longer fit.

I didn't send Christmas cards last year and feel I MUST this year.

I love that A.Grey is posting comments from a barn. Hope it's warm. So. Cal is chilly today.

Rachele Alpine said...

Gossip Girl may have been confusing last night, but I loved how much Chuck Bass there was!

Shannon Messenger said...

You guys definitely have to do another VLOG, but we need to make it spontaneous again so we get another "world denomination" moment!

Hm, my truths:

1. I am still in my pajamas

2. It's 9:30am

3. I will STILL be in my pajamas at noon, and later

4. The only reason I will get out of my pajamas will be to get dressed to go see New Moon tonight

5. I still haven't seen New Moon

6. Apparently I've been living under a rock

7. I'd planned to post a review of New Moon when I saw it.

8. But now I'm afraid

9. I'm probably going to think it's silly

10 And I have too many die hard twilight fans following my blog who will attack me. :)

Rebecca Knight said...

HAHAHAH, I love Tuesdays on your blog! :) Laura really does look like Blake, in the best possible way.

My truths?

1) I do know what spanx are.

2) It's 15 degrees here in the NW, so I wore an ugly knit hat to work. The truth part? I'm thinking it looks kind of awesome, and I should find excuses to wear it more often :).

Ooo, yes please! Do another Vlog! I loved the first one, it made my day! :D <3

I so agree with you on the Christmas card thing. I really need to get on that because A) I make my own and B) I hate the PO in December. Ugh.

Danyelle L. said...

*grin* You both get awesomer by the second.
Here, you can have our snow. If it wasn't so cold, didn't make traveling icky, and stayed pristine and white, it would be so much better. O:)

Tell the truth? Heh. It's almost noon, and I'm still in my pajamas.

1. I haven't brought one thing for my kids yet. But I'm taking all day this Friday to shop.

2. I'm not looking forward to said shopping trip. Shopping with a 17 month old is scary.

3. I have no idea what Spanx are, either.

Carolyn V. said...

Ooooh, I love your truth! My truth, I should be studying for my finals right now, but I'm blogging instead. Mwa ha ha ha. (I know, not very Christmas-y).

Kimberley Griffiths Little said...

A few years ago I gave up on the cards. It was SO stressful trying to get the Christmas cards out on time with everything else to do during December, especially if I had a writing deadline, that I started doing Happy New Year cards w/ family letter. I work on it and send it out between January 1 - 15. Love it! It also gives us the chance when we're all together the Christmas week to get the family pictures done, too. :-D
(I do send actual Christmas cards, just later and with a Happy New Year message and all the family news.)

Really takes the stress off!

Sara {Rhapsody and Chaos} said...

1. I thought GG was kinda confusing yesterday TOO!
2. I just ordered picture Christmas cards - I usually order from snapfish but stumbled upon a link to Walmart and found a card that I absolutely loved. Now I'm nervous that the cards will have Walmart's logo on them. Sigh.
3. I'm skipping class tonight to edit my MS. woops!

Kim said...

I'm rolling reading the comments as much as your truths. I love the fear of the Walmart logo printed across the Christmas cards!

And, Rebecca it was 50 degrees here and I sported a knit hat too b/c I thought I looked schnazzy in it. Wore it all through BJ's too. BJ's is a major fashion hot spot, you know.

My confession. I busted out my Christmas cards this year by having my kids drink fake mugs of hot cocoa. I stuck a bunch of marshmallows in the mugs so they'd be super interested in the "prop" and snapped away like a lunatic. Hey, it worked.

Kelly H-Y said...

Xmas cards are printing as I am working! They WILL get sent! :-) Thanks for your list ... it brought laughter to my afternoon! :-)

My Christmas shopping is done. We had a pipe break and I just about died when I saw the plumber's bill today. So whatever is bought is all anybody is getting. Hope they like it!

Jemi Fraser said...

I gave up sending cards a few years ago - just couldn't keep up with it. This year I'm giving up the guilt associated with not sending those cards... I hope.

Tana said...

Essentially I am cranky. Did most of my shopping, worked out and I can make out the floor in the livingroom. Um, so what's my problem?

Rhiannon Hart said...

I want the fishnet spanx: practical up the top, sexy at the bottom. NO ONE WILL KNOW. You've also reminded me about my sad lack of holiday carding. Must rectify.

Tabitha Bird said...

I want it to snow too... but there is this little problem that comes with living in Australia... no snow predicted in Summer.. WHAT? WHHHHYYY! It would be so nice and Chrissmasy!

Hardygirl said...

Uh, you DO know that they make crotchless Spanx. To take care of the bathroom issue . . . so go ahead and stitch them to your body so you can enjoy the holidays.

My truths:
1. I don't watch Gossip Girl

2. I don't wear Spanx, but I should!

3. I already had to send all the Chanukah presents because the holiday is early this year (Dec.11th)

4. The holiday cards are going out this weekend so they will be on time for Chanukah and acceptibly early for Christmas.

5. I'm a little anxious about this weekend because I get rid of my car and stop driving for good (due to my vision) on Sunday.

erica m. chapman said...

I'll send some snow to you guys since it is all blizzardy over here!

Truth:
I work in a mall office and I've become completely jaded about Christmas- however I do like my tree :o)

I want to try Spanx, but think they're too much work

Wang Chung- Everybody Have Fun Tonight is playing on my itunes in a genius mix (and I'm kinda diggin' it!)

I have one Christmas card written so far.

Would love to see another vlog- the last one was hilarious :o)

Get out and shop- so I can keep my job!! LOL
