Tell the Truth Tuesday

1. I'm beta reading a manuscript right now that's better than a lot of the published books I've read over the past 6 months.

2. We're almost done with the first draft of LIAR SOCIETY 2. I'm torn between excitement to type "THE END" and an irrational fear of what issues we're going to find when we start editing.

3. I still haven't had time to watch the True Blood premier. Stupid writing is getting in the way of quality time with my television. I also haven't watched a single episode of The Bachelorette. Think I can call it a wash?

4. My favorite thing about being on the WriteOnCon team is all the e-mail. Lately there's always something exciting lurking in our mailbox.

5. I get really excited when we get a new follower on Twitter or the blog. *Waves* But I also live in fear that we're going to scare them off...

6. Using emoticons makes me feel dirty.

7. I don't think I'm ever going to be good at writing synopsi. And yes, I know that's not the correct plural, but I hate them too much to look up the proper terminology. Plus I like that my plural makes them sound like a disease or eight legged sea monsters.

8. I'm supposed to be writing the final chapter in the WIP right now, but my so-called writing partner disappeared without even a mention of a blog post. To teach her a lesson, I'm posting this lovely picture of Laura post Freshman year Felicity haircut. #ThisIsWar

9. We have to film another vlog this week. I'm mostly including this as one of my truths so we don't forget.

10. As much as I LOVED the Glee finale, I can't stop thinking about Quinn Fabray's baby bump. She looked 5 months pregnant when she delivered. If you want to see what real pregnancy looks like, go watch Away We Go.

11. Since Lisa included my mullet in this post, I'm not sure I want to contribute my truth, but here it goes. I spent all of last night nursing a sick baby (no, not nursing-nursing (she's 2)--making her feel better), washing sheets and scrubbing floors. The blog was a distant memory.

12. Okay, I lied. I just went to bed early with DECEPTION by Lee Nichols (really, it's Lisa's fault because she gave me the book and now I can't stop reading). Again, the blog was a distant memory. When I woke up this morning, I panicked.

13. I miss the days of 8 AM post times. I wake up early, I could help with posts then.

14. Hey, Lisa changed the look of the blog without asking (which, okay fine, looks better), maybe I'll change the post times. #Thisreallyiswar Oh, and I don't have access to embarrassing OLD pictures, but I do have some NEW ones. Muwhahaha.

So how's that for random? What's your truth this Tuesday?

LOL. Love your evaluation about synopsi. I think they should be treated like a disease too. Heavily vitamise ourselves before even THINKING about getting contaminated :o)

Lindsay said...

I agree about the synopsi. They are small documents of evil.
Eww I think I need a shower now. I feel dirty thinking about them. lol.

Tell the Truth Tuesday:

1) I have no idea how I'm going to keep my students busy for 7 hours today.

2) I have to face my principal for an end-of-year eval today, and I don't want to b/c I'm mad at him for something he neglected to do. I kind of want him to know I'm mad, but I also don't want him to apologize b/c he can't make up for it now -- and plus I want to stay mad.

3) Whenever I finish a manuscript (first draft or revisions) I go into a state of depression b/c I feel like I'm losing my best friends.

Dianne K. Salerni said...

So, #3 is why I didn't congratulate you on reaching the end of your WIP, because it's always a sad event for me. Reason for a condolence card, maybe.

Or maybe I'm just nuts.

Congrats!

I too can not write a synopsis.

I can't wait for WriteNoCon.

I'm trying to figure out a way to stop cats from shedding. Shaving them is running through my mind.

Still smiling about the vlog yesterday--great job girls.

Good luck on the last chapter.

The Bachelorette is getting good. Ali picked a total loser to stay last night and sent a hunk who could sing home.

Synopsi are incredible evil. Blech!

And love the picture. Look forward to the war. ;) *oooh, I feel dirty!*

Something is wrong with our U-Verse!!!

We set it up to record the entire series of True Blood and somehow it missed the premier. We're pretty much freaking out about it.

Oh and love the new layout, but hate synopsae with equal fervor!

Bethany Elizabeth said...

You two are pretty much the awesomest sisters ever. Just so you know. :)
I like the new layout too, but the first time I saw it I was very confused. Like, 'did I click the wrong link?' but then I was greeted by witty LiLa comments so I knew that I was at the right blog.
My truth is this:
I hate hate HATE soccer. Seriously, slam my face into the door if you must. I like most other sports, but a sport that encourages grown men to act like babies in order to fool the referees so they call an undeserved foul on the poor other team is a sport that deserves to be banished to the second age of Middle Earth.
*sigh*
(Watching the World Cup always gets to me. :P)

Laura should take pride in being able to pull of a college felicity hair cut. That takes talent.

Artemis Grey said...

Love the post.

My truths are:

I still haven't heard from the agent with the full of my ms... and I'm not sure I want to because I really really like her and as long as she hasn't said anything, she hasn't said 'no' either...

I hate whistling. Like seriously hate it... with an unreasonable passion... and I don't know when I started to hate it or why... but I do...

Corey Schwartz said...

My blog desperately needs a new look too. Maybe I'll play around with that today, instead of cleaning the house.

Summer Frey said...

Truth: I actually reacted out-loud when I got a nudie-back shot of Eric while watching the True Blood premiere with my husband last night. (PS: it was pretty good.)

Jonathon Arntson said...

I didn't realize I'd sent you my ms to beta...but thanks for the compliment! :P

Okay, but srsly, I need to adopt this truth tuesday thing, it seems like it'd be relieving.

Your description of synopsi made me laugh out loud. These are all great truths. I totally agree with Quinn, that was a little too unrealistically portrayed for me. I'm wondering who's novel your betaing thats so much better than everything else out there right now.

It takes a lot to scare me off. Now that I've found you, I'm not going anyway. That sounds a lot creepier than I meant it too.

Candyland said...

Haha nice hair! Your truths are always a whole lot better than anything I have going on. Okay...
Truth: I want to give up but I can't seem to.

storyqueen said...

Well, gotta say...the picture made me laugh.

Well played.

You guys crack me up! Laura, you look great with that hair. Seriously, I don't think you could look bad (either of you).

Love the layout, ladies ;o)

my truth:

I think you guys totally rock with all your work paying it forward putting on a conference. WOW.

"I'm beta reading a manuscript right now that's better than a lot of the published books I've read over the past 6 months."

REALLY?!? Yikes! I'm not even pubbed yet and I'm obsolete . . . ;-)

2. We're almost done with the first draft of LIAR SOCIETY 2.

YAY!!! And CONGRATS!!! Cannot wait for your first book next year!

And YAY for all of you on putting together WriteOnCon - met Elana in April and she is FAB!!!

Love you girls . . . xoxo

Loving the new look, ladies. Haven't been around. Been battling a chest cold. I was losing.

Emoticons: I agree. Wiggy.

Truth: I'm tired of being tried. Hopefully the sun this summer will revive me. LOL

Stina said...

Oh, that's very random.

Truth: I can't spell synposises either.

Tahereh said...

loool i love how i have no idea who's posting until the other one shows up.

you guys are way too adorable!

Melissa Sarno said...

Congrats on finishing your draft! That's awesome. My truth is that I read a few kidlit writer's blogs but don't write for the under 18 crew. Therefore, I'm extremely angry you're all having a conference without me! Another truth is that I can't keep the two of you straight, so I don't even know which one to blame for losing the arm wrestle. ;-) But seriously, the conference sounds like fun, great idea and good luck!

1. My wife channel surfed past the Bachelawhorette last night right at the rose ceremony bit and I almost kacked in my mouth a bit.

2. You know you love using emoticons (I'm talking to both of you here).

3. The plural of synposis is synopses. You're welcome.

4. I didn't think that was so random, actually. Most of those truths were vaguely connected.

5. Arschegeweih.

6. I threw that one in for randomness' sake. Look it up. It's awesome.

P. I think you guys should vlog some of the songs from Dr. Horrible. I'd play the part of NPH, if you want.

943. I lied about playing NPH. I think Lisa should just wear an NPH mask and sing tenor.

Meredith said...

Ugh, I hate synopsi, and that's definitely what I'll be calling them from now on. But the Bachelorette is getting good--there are a couple of pretty awesome guys. And some absolutely horrible ones who are fun to watch.

Jill Wheeler said...

YAY for almost finishing LS2. I'm almost done with my WIP, and I know what you mean about being scared of what you might find when you start to edit. *ahem plot holes cough*

Elana Johnson said...

Awesome list! My truth today is I'm a tennis volley whore. Love that shot.

And I'm glued to email because of WriteOnCon. Okay, whatever. I'm glued to email all the time. Hmph.

Renae said...

Great post you guys are too funny! Congrats on almost finishing LS2. I agree with the editing process. Yuck!
I love the new look...since you girls have such an awesome blog I'm giving you an award tomorrow on mine.

Sara B. Larson said...

You guys crack me up. Here's a truth: your new background is the same as Natalie Whipple's blog, which I thought she drew herself because she's an amazing artist, but apparently not since you now have the same one!

I'm excited about the writeoncon and wish I had cool, exciting emails in my inbox all the time.

I also hate synopsi or synopses or whatever they are. A synopsis by any other name still sucks!

JEM said...

Totally random. Which means awesome.

My truth today: I fight not to treat my employees like children sometimes. Which, in my defense, they frequently act like. But still.

Okay, a second truth: while I'm going through revisions on my current WIP, I'm discovering that it's not that bad. Which TERRIFIES me. What am I missing?!

Shannon O'Donnell said...

there is no way you guys could ever scare off a follower. You are far too addictive. You guys are like the crack of blogging! :-)

I loved the Glee finale too but I can't help but wonder about Quinn's ability to move like that at nine months pregnant. Or eight months or however far in she was.

Anyway my truth this week: I'm pretty much mad at life right now but that's because it's been the week from hell. And it's only Tuesday.

:huddles in a corner waiting for next week to come:

Today's Truths:

1) I am totally waiting to enter all of the conference contests so I can do a big post dedicated to it tomorrow.
2) Your WriteOnCon vlog was hilarious...and your performance was the best. Mainly because I believe Lisa eats twizzlers and drinks wine a lot.lol

But the BIG secret: I like to use the word 'pimp' in conversations and it's just not that easy to do.

Kerri Cuev said...

Love the new layout, where the heck have I been!

Shame on you for not watching True Blood yet. TRUST ME you don't want to miss Erica's...ummm...I'll leave it as a surprise!

The truth is Laura just might pay you back for that picture lol!

What a lively post. It makes me feel young again just reading it. I'm anxious to read your book. You (both of you) are obviously a very good writer.
And I really love your new layout. I changed from green yesterday to blue and white today. I think it's more "classic."
Hope you're both have a fine day.

I'm jumping on the I hate synopsi bandwagon with you! I'm waiting until school is over to tackle it, but it's hovering like the cloud over PigPen. *sigh*

My truth: I'm probably the biggest force behind the deluge of WriteOnCon emails. I think I might have OWD (Obsessive Worrying Disorder) :)

Jonathon Arntson said...

Yeah, missed the share your own truth part.

I am abnormally excited for WriteOnCon and I am obsessed with the Eclipse Soundtrack.

Soooo glad I'm not the only person to shirk True Blood duty for life. Missing out really sucks.

Ha! Get it? O.K., I'm really sorry for that ...

I really wanted to say thanks for Writeoncon ladies! I blogged about it, and will continue to pub it as I think it's the coolest idea since the Snuggie. Or would that be the warmest idea?

Must. Stop. Puns.

JESSJORDAN said...

Total Felicity hair! Did people stop watching you, too, when you whacked it all off? :P

Angela Ackerman said...

I say you post one of Lisa sporting a mullet. And if you don't have a pic like that, well...that's what's photoshop and starting rumors are for.

My truth? Some days I just like to cause trouble... :)

Truths for Tuesday: (me)
1. I'm out of my favorite perfume, I've only ever bought it for myself once...I want my hubby to notice I'm out and buy me some.

2. I spent the whole day getting ready for our trip to the lake...Feeling a bit happy about getting ready, but a bit guilty about my unmet goals posted on my blog.

3. My super hot Kickboxing substitute teacher turned 21 this week...OMGoodness he tried to kill us today and we all liked it. (wink)

Have a great rest of the week ladies!
