Triumphant Tuesday

Okay, so the truth is, I'm not feeling even remotely triumphant today. In fact, I'm feeling hot, sweaty, tired, crabby and annoyed with life in general.

And yet, life is pretty freaking good.

I mean, read this post from our favorite Southern Belles over at Plot This. We're writers dammit, and we're lucky to be doing exactly what we love.

So, today I am making as solemn promise to myself to appreciate all of the amazing things in my life. I have a family that I adore, sisters who are my best friends, a job that I'm obsessed with and a DVR to record all the trashtastic summer television. Take that Tuesday!

So, you tell me: What's your triumph this Tuesday?

I'm new to U-Verse and the DVR but the thing is like an evil genius! Terrible and wonderful all at the same time.

I have my own special corner on the love seat, surrounded my note books, gel pens and three piles of to be read books.

When I move from this spot and go to the office, I have more notebooks, gel pens, and books, lots and lots of books.

When I go to the library tonight, I will take a notebook, pen and yeah...there's the book thing AND kids coming in to sign them out!

Not feeling particularly triumphant at the moment. Still groggy, doing my morning blog tour while lounging in bed. Hoping it hits me while I'm in the shower, but I will NOT be taking the laptop in there with me (a girl has to set some limits) so I'll have to get back to you on that one!

Thinking positive- more easily said than done, right? I think it has to be a conscious effort, though. Thanks for pushing me to do this. Um... after an entire day of strange internet issues that made me want to pull my hair out, I seem to be back up and running. That counts for something!

Thanks ladies!
Marissa

Thanks for my new summer word...Trashtastic! I love it. I wish I were that witty!!! Let's see- I finished my rewrite and am almost finished a critique.

Good for you! Give it to Tuesday.

I'm working confidence, not letting anything get me down. It's all in the attitude. ";-)

Congrats to the winner.

Ha! Y'all are two cute :) Yes, it struck me yesterday that whether or not I ever sell a book, I spend my days doing what I absolutely adore. So why do I let myself become obsessed with distribution, and money, and sales, and marketing, and social networking, and...

I'd rather keep my head in the clouds and think about voice, and plot, and quirks, and yes, even trashy TV. It's gonna kill me when Frank dumps Ali on The Bachelorette!

We, sweet Roeckers, are in the enviable position of pursuing our dreams. Few people ever even figure out what they want to do, much less get to try it. And even less ever succeed, like you two have.

Tuesday is, indeed, Terrific :)

Off to the gym!

Woohoo! I finally got the premise for a new series down. My brain feels like mush now, and it's hotter than hell outside, but I feel good. Yay!

It's been a triumphant few days here. I finished my total rewrite, Daughter got her ACT scores (30 overall) and yesterday she started her first job. =o)

Take that Tuesday. =o)

I may be grumbling that I have to go to work today, but I am rejoicing my having a job! Without the job, I wouldn't be able to do anything I love, including write. So, there.

My Tuesday Triumph:
The husband is taking the Dread Daughters to the beach for a day or two (depends on how much they drive him crazy) and I will be totally and completely on my own!! (except for the dog)

He did this last summer, and I realized it was the first time I'd had 48 hours to myself in about 13 years. He felt so bad when I told him that, he pledged to do it every summer!

Writing, reading, shopping, and chickflicks -- here I come!

Ergh! Just realized I shouldn't say anything in case I jinx it. Let's just say my editors are awesome and they're about to go to bat on something cool. So I'm crossing my fingers.

In the line of Trashtastic summer programming, I'm feeling quite thrilled that I have 4 shows to watch, and I'm enjoying them just as much as my regular season shows: Pretty Little Liars, Rookie Blue, True Blood (of course), and The Gates.

My kids are at their dad's, so I have a full day to write! (Except I'm not writing; I'm blogging. Oops!)

My triumph today is that my priest is coming over to help me hang sheetrock and drink vodka. Not necessarily in that order. I'm not saying he'll bless the vodka beforehand or anything, but it's a possibility. I've never drunk holy vodka before. I bet it'd taste awesome.

(Boy, I wonder how many people I'll offend with this one. Makes me wish they made an Outrage Tracker. I'd like to follow my level of offense in real time. I think that'd be fascinating.)

I loved Katie's post. Makes me feel very optimistic!

Today I'm triumphant that I'm getting an e-reader for my birthday this week! I just don't know which one yet. How's the Kindle's page turning these days? ;)

Let's see...I actually got out of the house and saw a movie (Toy Story 3--OMG I'm still crying when I think about it)

Oh, and I came up with 3 new plot ideas to develop and hopefully someday write. *fist pump*

My triumph today is getting up early enough to get to work early like I wanted. Also, this tea is actually working to keep me awake. So yay!

Take that Tuesday! I fooled my printer into printing 100 more pages, even when it insisted the toner was dry!

I am queen today!!

I have learned a new word...trashtastic. Which pretty much sums up all my fav shows on TV.

I also completed a rough outline for my next manuscipt. yeahhhhh

Um, my triumph is that I've managed to write all morning without sticking to the chair (it's hot here!).

My triumph is that I'm back from a week long writing workshop where I lived in the dorms and not only did I lose three pounds (probably from eating in a dining hall again), but I no longer have to shower in flip flops! It was so nice to come home and be able to step right into my shower!!!

My triumph today is that I didn't let the NYC subway system get me down. Despite the fact that it took me nearly 2 hours to get to work (usually 30 min) I managed to finish an entire book on the train. And it was an awesome book!

My triumph? The last day of school is tomorrow! Woohoo! :)

I spent 30 minutes researching tattoos for my hot Goth guy (very) minor character. :D

Was it my comment on the alligator? I bet that's why I lost. grumble grumble.

*Kicks the dirt* Congrats to Khadija.... *clears throat* CONGRATS Khadija!!!!!

I have no major triumphs today. I'll be lucky to get my chipped nail polish off my finger nails. I suppose you can count finishing the edits on my second manuscript as a bit of a triumph, though.

Isn't it funny how we really have to take a step back every so often and look at all the great things going on. The smallest negative things seem to leave such a bitter taste.
happy week!

Don't call this a comeback

So it’s been a minute. Or 10. Or truthfully more like 2,102,400. At least we think that’s how many minutes there are in 3 years, but let...
