The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The Good: I went to bootcamp yesterday and totally got my ass kicked. Go me!
The Bad: I came home to find that Ken had purchased 4 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. Ouch.
The Ugly: 48 hours later only 3 boxes are left. You do the math.

The Good: I cleaned out my closet today and I feel like a whole new person. I can actually see my clothes now. It's fabulous.
The Bad: I gave away 4 HUGE bags of clothes to Goodwill. I can't even stand to think about how much money I wasted on those clothes, some of the stuff still had tags on it! But hey, I'm sure there are people out there that will get good use out of the stuff.
The (F)ugly: I still can't give away my sort-of-see-through, snake skin patterned Kenneth Cole shirt. I haven't worn it since 2003, but it's just nice to know it's there just in case snake skin comes back in style or we're invited to a party where you have to dress like a cave person. Yeah, it's fugly.

The Good: Laura and I are converting our random plot notes into an actual synopsis for Book 2 and it's going to be awesome (sorry, humility isn't one of my strong suits).
The Bad: We still need to work out all of the revisions on Book 1 which is going to require a little bit of research on our end.
The Ugly: I got the book I need to read for research from Amazon today, but it arrived with THE SEASON and THE HUNGER GAMES, two books I've been dying to read. What are the chances that I'll have the willpower to stay focused on the research? Umm...slim to none. Laura is going to disown me.

The Good: We think we might have figured out the perfect title for Book 1! Hoorah!
The Bad: We e-mailed the agent about it, but haven't heard back yet. So she's either a) horrified that she has signed two authors who can't think of a decent title to save their lives and working with a bunch of scary lawyers to annul our representation agreement or b) busy. TBD.
The Ugly: We're thinking it might be fun to keep you guys in suspense for a while about the title itself. After all, some fancy schmancy published author might happen by our awesome blog and steal it, right? What you don't think that sounds likely? Well, the truth is that we're starting to learn that titles are a little bit like naming your baby. Sometimes it's best to keep it a surprise so you don't have a whole bunch of judgy people looking at you and saying, "Calliope? Seriously? Are you sure? I once knew a Calliope who was a stripper..."

Ok, your turn. Good, bad, ugly - we want to hear it all in the comments!

The Good: I bought 100 calorie Coke cans and 150 calorie Warm Delights desserts from Betty crocker (I'm really trying to cut cals!)

The Bad: I had two cokes and Taco Bell.

The Ugly: Even though I had two cokes and Taco Bell I still decided to have a Warm Delight. Then the microwave broke...and I still ate it uncooked. ugh.

The good: It's all good right now.

The bad: I bought a pair of shoes last week that I decided that I really don't need or will wear - only to find today as I went to return them that my youngest has cut the box up, glued tissue paper to the inside and made it her book report shoebox project. (and receipt is in trash :-( So now I can't return. wwaaahhh

The Ugly: My pasty, white, won't tan legs. Damn these genes!!!!!!

P.S. the shoes are mustard yellow. Yeah. Don't ask me why I bought them...

'Cuz mustard doesn't accentuate white legs very well...

My sister is very fair, just like you Katie. (Actually what drew me to your blog originally was that I saw some similarities between you and my sis).

But what I like to remind her (and now you) is when I have to skimp and save $10g's to get my face lifted and my skin resurfaced (lol) you guys will probably only need an occasional botox...mainly because you can see these invisible lines that the rest of us can't! You will look forty when you're sixty and those of us that decide to tan for fun will look sixty at forty. :)

P-Clo - The fact that you ate an uncooked Warm Delights, might be the funniest thing ever. Considering my family polished off 3 boxes of cookies over the past 48 hours, I can definitely relate.

Katie - Yellow is totally the new black! But it is a hard shade to wear, no? I vote that you buy some Clarins self-tanner and rock the shoes! Orange and yellow totally go, right?

Katie,

Post a pic of the shoes and we'll have a contest to see who can dress it best! And no offense LiLa...I'm thinking black leggings (that stop at the ankle or calf) ...lol. Not quite tights but it may work. I'd have to see the shoes.

PC - Best. Idea. Ever. Black leggings is the best you can come up with? It is so on!

Katie - You could give the shoes to whoever has the best idea, ha! It's kind of like eBay only you don't get any money, just a fun contest.

Oh it's on.

It's on like Donkey Kong.

This is the gayest series of comments I've ever read. Ever.

I love it. Touche!

Kimberly - I know, right? Isn't it fabulous? I'm strangely proud that my random post somehow elicited this type of response. Good times.

P-Clo - I am so ready to kick your ass in our faux stylist competition, I'm just waiting for a picture of those yellow shoes to show up on Katie's blog. Let's just say I've been doing some research on Go Fug Yourself and you are not going to believe the fabulosity. That's all I'm going to tell you because my design is top secret. Rest assured leggings are not involved.

The good: I've been getting up early and working out. This morning I got up to play r-ball with one of my favorite son-in-laws. I returned his latest golf book read.

The bad: I got my butt kicked

The ugly: I'm tired as hell while I wait for my other son-in-law for a meeting at the Starbucks in Legacy.

Anonymous - Sounds like you've got a lot of sons-in-laws. I bet you've got some pretty hot daughters.

The Good - I made the commitment and paid for the Backspace Writers Convention, paid a little extra for the Author/Agent day, bought my plane tickets and reserved my room. No turning back!

The Bad - I have become so inundated with my "other" (read - evil) work that I haven't been able to spend as much time polishing my manuscript.

The Ugly - Someone with a similar story just got published last month.

LMJ - That conference looks amazing! I can't believe the list of agents/editors that will be there. It will be amazing to get their feedback on your MS.

What is it about??

Little Ms J said...

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond! I've been traveling on business.

My book is a coming of age memoir and based on growing up with a Christian minister father and an alcoholic mother. The decisions of faith and fornication are made ever so much more daunting... :-)

LMJ - Your book sounds amazing! I can't wait to read it someday. You'll have to report back on the conference - esp. the author/agent networking. It's going to be unbelievable. I'm jealous.

Don't call this a comeback

So it’s been a minute. Or 10. Or truthfully more like 2,102,400. At least we think that’s how many minutes there are in 3 years, but let...
