The Way We Were...

This is our 200th post! Big milestone people. And while many (far cooler) bloggers than ourselves host contests and give away prizes, we've decided to go the sentimental route and share our top 5 favorite posts with our dear readers.

I honestly can't believe we've come this far and I can't believe how much further we have to go. Thanks a lot, Laura. When we first came up with this brilliant idea you said it must be really easy to get a YA book published because half of what you read in your class room was total crap. Hi-larious in retrospect...

Ok, drumroll please...

And the Top 5 Blog Posts are:

5. Our very first post. So optimistic, no naive, we'd never been rejected and we thought we were literary geniuses. Need I say more?

4. The night I decided to CALL an editor. Umm...this is the worst idea ever. Thank God the Flirty Girls turned out to be so cool. And they now have their submissions guidelines posted on their website, so there's no excuse to pick up the phone.

3. My 30th B-day post and Laura's response (including a truly embarrassing picture). Two of our quintessential random blog posts. You really never know what you're going to find over here and for that, I apologize.

2. The timeline of the terrible Christmas gifts. This one will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm sure Ken will love to read it someday...

1. Announcing our agent! Ok, this one was really hard to choose. I was so close to choosing the post right after the inauguration, or maybe one of Laura's celeb poems, or even remembering Mike, but in the end the agent post had to win because it's pretty much the most exciting thing that has happened to us in...well...EVER.

Happy 200th Blog Post everyone!

CONGRATS!!! Can it really already be your 200th blog post?!?! WOW! Love you guys!

Woot woot, two hundred! Here's to two hundred more :)

Congrats on 200! I just read through your faves and may I just say that I loved the sibling rivalry (a la Demi Moore's dress) and the Christmas presents. Good stuff!

My husband bought me jeans with rhinestones on them for our first Christmas. Bad form. I got a Bebe sweatsuit with rhinestones on my butt AND my boobs for my last birthday. Niiiice. I hugged him and asked if he wanted to marry a stripper in another life, "Lot of rhinestones coming my way, love. Should I expect any plastic shoes?"

I missed your "calling the editor" post. HAHAHA. Why do I find that so funny???

I know.

Because it all worked out in the end.

Tara - Thanks. Can you believe you've actually read 200 of our posts? Shocking.

Sara - I can't even imagine what the next 200 will bring...

LMJ - Dude, you got boobs and rhinestones for your b-day and all I got was an ill fitting barn jacket? That is SO not fair.

Wow, you guys are awesome. I'm approaching 200 though...maybe I'll have to steal your idea and post my top five favorite posts. I can't even remember what I posted last week though. So that might not work out so well.

Trust me Lil Ms. J does not need boobs. She got rhinestones ON her boobs (as in on the jacket)...lol.

We fight over who got the butt and who got the boobs. Pretty sure she got the better asset! ;)

CONGRATS ON 200!!! Loved the agent post especially!

Elana - Feel free to steal our idea!

P-Clo - OMG, laughing so hard right now. Now that I know that we're dealing with rhinestones ON boobs as opposed to rhinestones AND the boobs, my jealousy has abated somewhat. Although I'm still pretty sure that rhinestones beat the barn jacket.

P.S. The new nickname is totally working for me.

And Sam - I can't believe you're laughing about my call to the editor. Is that like the dumbest thing ever?? I had this vision of calling the number and getting an answering machine, just to sort of figure out what the company was all about. Yeah, not smart.

Now I need to see this call to the editor post...when was it?!

Lisa said...

Oh Joanna...It's so embarrassing, but if you must see it, it's #4 on our list. Just don't judge me too harshly, I really didn't think anyone would answer.

Watch, this is totally going to turn up on #queryfail or something.

OMG! I loved this post and your black dress was so INDECENT PROPOSAL which was ultra hot whether or not said sis wants to acknowledge it! haha

Loved the editor call too! too funny!

Congratulations, Lisa and Laura. Since I just found your blog, I hope you have another 200 as entertaining and fun as the top five you listed here. Looking forward to it.

You girls just totally made my day.

And, I'm with Katie--love the Indecent Proposal dress.

I'm a little worried, though. I am--at this very moment--sporting a pair of Juicy jeans with rhinestones on my ass. Do I need an intervention????

loved going back since I just found you guys ;) congrads on post

Katie - I'm so glad that you have sophisticated taste in homecoming dresses. I mean, black synthetic fibers with all those straps, can you really go wrong!?

Sarah Francis - I think we'll begin the intervention if/when you're spotted with rhinestones decorating your face and or sporting a pair of completely bedazzled jeans. I think a few decorating your ass are totally acceptable. Of course this is coming from the girl currently sporting a pair of uggs and a sweatshirt and I did pick out that homecoming dress myself, so take my fashion advice with a huge heaping tablespoon of salt.

Janet - We're so glad you think the blog is entertaining and fun. We knew it was random, but the jury was still out on whether anyone actually found it entertaining!

Shelli - I'm so proud to have a Amazon Breakout Quarter Finalist in our midst! Congratulations!!!!

OMG! I just read your first post. It was only in September! You "conceived" your idea in the summer and started your blog and first chapters in September and you are already agented and talking about your naievety and optimism back then AS IF it was AGES AGO?!!!

excuse me while I turn green with envy. :P *smolders*

And you really have posted 200 since September huh? Good grief overacheivers!

P, Don't be too impressed. I mean remember that there's two of us. And I fully admit to being blog obsessed. It's seriously an issue.

And we've actually written two books since we started writing together in July. The first one was a big old flop (RIP, THE NORTH SHORE. RIP.), but the second book has obviously been a little bit better received. We take turns writing chapters, so we typically write pretty quickly.

And when you look at how clueless we were back when we first started, it really does feel like a long time ago.

Ahaha...Thursdays were big party nights in my town too (I wonder how many people had to hold my hair back as I puked on a Thursday night...)

Congrats on the 200th post!!! :)

Don't call this a comeback

So it’s been a minute. Or 10. Or truthfully more like 2,102,400. At least we think that’s how many minutes there are in 3 years, but let...
